This film is a classic entertainer, released on 24th November 1972, the film was a blockbuster. Inspired by Ram Aur Shyam the film has a strong script by Salim Javed. Hema Malini in a double role brings the film to life with her natural charm and beauty.

The two sisters' partners in the movie are played by Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar, while Manorama plays the villainous aunt.

Despite the presence of Dharmendra who was the reigning star of the time. and Sanjeev Kumar, it is an outright Hema Malini film. She got the Filmfare Award for best actress for that year.R.D. Burman's music is outstanding. All the songs are lovely, from the happily exciting "Oh Saathi Chal" to the catchy "Zindagi Hai Khel" to the ballad "Haan Ji Haan"

It is a feel-good film unlike other 70s Masala Movies with a hero who bashes people. It stars Jeetendra, Jaya Bhaduri and Pran in the lead role, Sanjeev Kumar and Vinod Khanna are as guest and special appearance

The story is about a misunderstanding between a father Rai Saheb and son Sanjeev Kumar who wants to pursue a career in singing and also marry the girl of his choice but his father was not agreeble so Sanjeev Kumar leaves the home and maries the girl of his choice.

Unfortunately, his wife dies and soon he also is diagnosed terminally ill. The eldest child is Jaya Bhaduri, the children refuse to obey him and constantly flout his rules. Rai Sahab is desperately seeking a tutor for them, but no teacher lasts for more than a few weeks.

Ultimately (Jeetendra) who is jobless takes up the offer to become their teacher. He not only reforms them but Rama and Ravi fall in love. He also mould the displinary attitude of Rai Saheb and the film ends with his consent to Ravi and Rama’s alliance.

The highlight of the film is its music which was composed by R D Burman, it was the first time Gulzar and R D Burman worked together,  This lethal combination later gave Hindi cinema priceless gems over the Seventies and the Eighties

50 Years of Shor (1972)

Released on 15th September 1972, Shor is a beautiful collage of emotions.  A tale of a father and son coping after a tragic accident, and how their misfortunes affect them. The film was written, produced and directed and edited by Manoj Kumar, who also plays the lead role in the film.

The highlight of this film is its music, composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.  “Ek Pyaar Ka Naghma Hai”, written by Santosh Anand and sung in different versions by Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh. It plays throughout the film, and retains its chartbuster status till date. The other songs, like “Jeevan Chalne Ka Naam” and “Paani Re Paani” stand out for their sheer brilliance.

Manoj Kumar who plays Shankar loses his wife Nanda in an accident. She dies while saving her son (Deepak). , Deepak loses his voice. Shankar contacts doctor to get his son's voice again; however, doctors suggests him to undergo surgery to get his son's voice back. Shankar  He has no money for the surgery,he tries hard to collect money and finally is able to collect enough money. Deepak undergoes the surgery successfully. Shankar goes to work; however, is unable to focus properly while working with machines and eventually gets injured. The injury causes him to lose his hearing. The father is now unable to hear his son's voice when he regains it.There is communal harmony with the stereotyped Muslim, Khan Badshah and a medley of workers that include a Sikh and a Christian.  Many characters introduced to provide a few laughs for the front benchers, notably Meena T, Manorama, Asrani and V.Gopal, fail to add any fizz.

Jaya Bhaduri’s portrayal of Raat Ki Rani is average but Satyajeet who plays Deepak is outstanding. Nanda, in a cameo, is the soul of the film.

Nominated for Filmfare Awards

50 Years of Jawani Diwani

Jawani Diwani was released on 14th July 1972, It was a musical romance film directed by Narender Bedi, and starring Randhir Kapoor, and Jaya Bhaduri, A landmark movie primarily because of RD Burman's fast, pounding and melodious score. The movie was a hit despite the unusual and forgettable pairing of Randhir and Jaya.Bhaduri.

It was an era when music was the dominating element and enlisting Rahul Dev Burman for the job ensured half the battle was won After Hare Rama Hare Krishna it was once again Asha Bhosle was at her best combined with Kishore Kumar.

In so far the plot is concerned, this is the simple story of a boy (Randhir Kapoor) meeting girl (Jaya Badhuri) at school, with the usual problems with parents.  The plot does not appeal but the music lingers.

Songs from “Jawani Diwani” impressed the youth and a cross-section of music lovers. “Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani” was a peppy number and went down well with the young brigade. “Saamne Yeh Kaun Aaya” could be heard at most parties. “Nahi Nahi Abhi Nahi” and “Agar Saaz Chheda Tarane Banenge” became popular too but the icing on the cake was “Jaane Jaan Dhoondta Phir Raha” which had a distinct RD touch, a unique blend of instruments that only he could use.

If you have not seen this film, you must see, enjoy its music and picturization of its songs
