50 Years of Sawan Bhadon

Released on 12th June 1970, Sawan Bhadon was the debut film of Rekha and Navin Nischal. It was also the debut film of the famous villain Ranjeet. Dancer Jayshree T also came into limelight with this film. The film was produced and directed by Mohan Segal.
The film was a surprise hit. Sawan Bhadon celebrated a jubilee run in over 30 theaters across the country
It had a few catchy numbers like "Kaan Mein Jhumka, Chaal MeinThumka" was very popular among masses. The music was composed by Sonik Omi, not a big name in the music industry at that time, only Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya (1966) was their earlier film was noticeable.
Sawan Bhadon was a run-of-the-mill film. Sawan Bhadon is the tale of Vikram played by Navin Nischal, a wealthy guy who’s been living in Europe when he decides to return to India. He has a step-sister Dolly and step-mother Sulochana, who are very cunning and greedy and steal Vikram's money during his absence from India.
Vikram, on his way home, is blocked by some thugs, who are actually the men hired by Sulochana's brother to kill him. But a village girl Chanda(Rekha) and her friends help him. Both of them fall in love with each other and plan to marry with Chanda's family's consent. But Sulochana is against the marriage and tries to force Vikram to leave her, but Vikram does not obey her.

Vikram comes to know that behind his back, Sulochana has fraudulently acquired properties of the villagers and he decides to return them to their rightful owners. Sulochana decides to kill him with the help of Madan by planting a bomb in his car before he heads towards Bangalore. The car explodes as per her plan and everyone including Chanda believes that Vikram is dead. All enemies of Vikram celebrate his death but Vikram survives.

Vikram returns home but Sulochana does not believe that he is alive. She tries to prove by all means that he is not Vikram. But Vikram proves that he has escaped merely with some injuries. Sulochana decides to kill the Vikram look-alike by poisoning his milk but he survives again
In the end, she confesses that she saw him falling out and burning from the exploded car and had bashed his head. The Vikram look-alike then admits that he is not Vikram, but CID Inspector Vinod.

Chanda is very disappointed about Vinod acting as Vikram, but Vinod tells her Vikram is not dead really but survived with injuries.
This film lifted the career of Jayshree T, who had 3 songs in the film. Ranjeet became a villain and of course Rekha and Navin Nischal.
If you enjoy lots of melodrama, energetic music and thrill, this is the film for you.

50 Years of Jeevan Mrityu

Released on 4 June 1970, Jeevan Mrityu is a Rajshri Production starring Dharmendra and Rakhi, the debut film of Rakhi. If you are a Dharmendra fan this film is for you. Dharmendra gives one of his best performances in this film.
Dharmendra was at his best. Usually, he is known for his action but in this, you see him as a well-educated man who reaches the top in a short span with his hard work. Dharmendra has given an answer to all those who think he cannot perform emotional scenes well.  It wouldn't be wrong to say that the entire movie depends on Dharmendra's performance.

The film was a remake of a 1967 Bengali film Jiban Mrityu starring Uttam Kumar and Supriya Devi in lead roles. The story was about a bank manager played by Dharmendra who is falsely implicated in a case of embezzlement by his colleagues Harish (Ajit), Jagat Narayan (Kanhaiyalal), Barrister P. Amarnath (Ramesh Deo) and Ramakant (Krishan Dhawan) for stealing Rs 10 lakh. and sent to jail for seven years.
After completing his seven-year term, he finds a benefactor in Raja Ranvir Singh (Bipin Gupta) and plots revenge against his colleague. After Ashok is mistakenly reported to be dead, he takes on a new identity( In a disguise of a Sardar)  and sets off to get his former colleagues.

Raakhee looks pretty in Dharmendra’s company, especially the melodious song, “Jhilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga”, featuring them in the first half of the movie. The sad version of this song, a solo of Lata Mangeshkar in the second part.
The film was a big hit as well the song "Jhil Mil Sitaron Ka" composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. It will always be remembered as one of the finest offerings from the house of Tarachand Barjatjya, known to give quality films that could be viewed by the entire family.

50 Years of Sachaa Jhutha

Released 50 years ago on 1st May 1970 was a blockbuster film. It was the second-highest grosser of the year. It was an action-comedy film directed by Manmohan Desai. Rajesh Khanna was the hero with a double role as Ranjith & Bhola. The performance of Rajesh Khanna was critically acclaimed and he won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for 1971.
This film was initially offered to Shashi Kapoor but he refused the film because he did not want to work with Mumtaz. At the time Mumtaz was working in a lot of B Grade stunt films. Shashi did not want to work with a small heroine.

Bhola (Rajesh Khanna) is an innocent band musician who lives with his physically challenged sister Belu(Naaz) in a village. He needs more money for his sister's marriage and he sets off to Bombay. In Bombay, there is a wealthy Jewel Merchant as well as a smuggler Ranjit who is a look-alike of Bhola is suspected by the police

inspector Pradhan(Vinod Khanna). The inspector has no evidence and searches for that. He creates a plan with Rita (Mumtaz) to attract Ranjith and to know his secret plans.
Bhola and Ranjit paths cross at a costume party Bhola in his original costume of a band player surprises Ranjit, he immediately conceives a plan. He takes Bhola to his place and reveals himself. He convinces Bhola to act like Ranjith in front of society as he is suffering from cancer and requires treatment. Until his return from treatment, Bhola has to make trust with everybody that he is Ranjith. Actually, Ranjith makes him himself so that he can continue with his diamond smuggling, meanwhile, there will not be any evidence, as Bhola is going to be Ranjith everywhere. But he did not reveal the reason for him. He also promises that he would give money for his sister's marriage. Innocent Bhola believes him and agrees to the plan.

Ranjith's girlfriend Ruby (Faryal) trains Bhola to be like Ranjith. In the meantime, Ranjith continues his underground work of diamond smuggling. And Inspector Pradhan cannot come to a conclusion. Rita moves intimately with Bhola thinking of him as Ranjith, but Bhola falls in love with her.
During this time in the village, Bhola's sister loses everything due to heavy floods, decides to go to Bombay along with her dog to search for Bhola.
Pradhan meets Belu and helps her to reach the place. Belu is misguided by some men regarding the whereabouts of her brother and tries to exploit her, but Pradhan saves her from them and takes her to his home. Ruby, who follows Belu to Pradhan's house informs Ranjith about her. Ranjith, posing like her brother, goes to Pradhan's home and takes her with him.

Finally, Bhola unravels Ranjit's evil designs and threatens exposure, but is restrained by Belu's captivity. After a series of gunfights, fisticuffs, helicopter landings, dog chases (animal rights activists will feel tormented at the plight of Moti) both Bhola and Ranjit are arrested.
It’s a fun film with Rajesh doing an excellent job differentiating between the two characters. His chemistry with gorgeous Mumtaz as always is great, one year earlier both came together in a super hit film Do Raste and Bandhan.
Another highlight of the film is its music. All the songs were hit especially "Meri Pyari Behaniya Banegi Dulhania". Kalyanji Anandji gave the music with lyrics by Indivar, Gulshan Bawra, and Qamar Jalabadi,
