15 Father-Son Jodis of Bollywood

There are many father son Jodis in Bollywood but there are few such Jodis who have shared screen together. The trend can probably be credited to the first family of Bollywood, when Prithviraj Kapoor played father to son Raj Kapoor in Awaara. The audience feels a certain connect with real life fathers and sons playing the same relation on-screen as well.In fact there was a film Kal Aaj Aur Kal in which father, son and grand son shared the screen together.Prithviraj Kapoor played father to real life son Raj Kapoor, whereas Raj played father to real life son Randhir Kapoor in this saga about generation gap.The film was directed by Randhir Kapoor.

Another Legendary Actor was Dev Anand who shared screen with his son Suneil Anand in Anand Hi Anand 1984.This film was produced and directed by Dev Anand himself.

Balraj Sahni was another legendary actor who share the screen together with his son Parikshit Sahni in a film Pavitra Paapi 1970 not as father son.

Shashi Kapoor  who has two sons Kunal and Karan, shared the screen with his son Kunal Kapoor first time in 1972 film Siddhartha as father ans son that time Kunal was a child. In 1978 film he shared the screen with both the sons.Later in 1982 film Vijeta both appeared as father and son.In 1984 film Utsav both appeared again but not as father and  son.

Rajendra Kumar not only designed a debut movie for his darling son Bunty better known as Kumar Gaurav, which turned him into an overnight phenomena but also played his indulgent father on screen in the 1981 blockbuster, Love Story. They also appeared in two other films Lover and Phool

Sunil Dutt launched his son Sanjay Dutt in Rocky 1981 and even though he played his on screen father in it.They also appeared as  father son in Kshatriya 1993 and Munna Bhai MBBS 2003.

Feroz Khan and Fardeen got together for movies like Janasheen 2003 and Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena 2005 where their characters are not related to each another. But they sure get points for sharing the screen together.

Dharmendra who has two sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol was first seen together with both in Apne 2007 as father sons and also in Yamla Pagla Deewana 2011 and Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 in 2013.Dharmendra and sunny appeared together in 13 films and Bobby and Dharmendra in 8 films. In Dharmveer Bobby appeared as a child role of Dharmendra.

Rishi Kapoor and his son Ranbir Kapoor worked together in Besharam 2013 here in this film in the end Ranbir Kapoor is adopted by Rishi Kapoor.

Rajesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan: Although Rakesh Roshan and son Hrithik didn't share any screen space in Koi Mil Gaya, it was only because Rakesh's character dies before the birth of his son. But the father-son jodi was one of the highlights of the film, that won critical acclaim for Hrithik,

Murad (1910–1997) was an Indian character actor who appeared in more than 100 Bollywood films from the early 1940s through to the end of the 1980s playing character roles of a father, police officer, judge and an emperor. Remembering RAJENDRA KUMAR on his 17th Death Anniversary

RAJENDRA KUMAR  (20 July 1929 – 12 July 1999)

He was known as "Jubilee Star" of Bollywood.Starting his career in 1950, he appeared in more than 80 films in a career spanning over four decades. He was considered as one of the most successful Indian Bollywood actors in the 1960s.
In an interview Rajendra Kumar said"when we came to Bombay, I decided to try my luck in the film industry. I never wanted to be a hero, so I became an assistant to director H.S. Rawail. For five years, I worked with him in films like Patanga, Sagai, Pocketmaar..
He made his film debut with a small role in Kidar Sharma's 1950 film Jogan, opposite Dilip Kumar and Nargis. It was producer Devendra Goel who noticed Kumar in Jogan and gave him a break in Vachan in 1955,the film was a hit and was Kumar's first silver jubilee film.

He got further success with his supporting role in Mehboob Khan's blockbuster epic film Mother India in 1957 in which he played Nargis's character's son. His first major success as a romantic leading man was in Amit Saxena's musical Goonj Uthi Shehnai (1959), co-starring Ameeta.

He came at a time when Dilip Kumar,Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor were ruling the Bollywood,he esteblished himself and gave one hit film by another hit. There were times when he had six or seven films which had run for more than 25 weeks, all running at the cinema at the same time,

He starred in many box office hits including Dhool Ka Phool (1959), Dil Ek Mandir(1963), Mere Mehboob (1963), Sangam (1964), Arzoo (1965), Suraj (1966), Talash and Ganwaar (1970). He received the Filmfare Nomination for Best Actor for Dil Ek Mandir(1963), Ayee Milan Ki Bela (1964), Arzoo (1965), and as Best Supporting Actor for Sangam (1964).

After Suraj(1966), the sun began to slowly set on Rajendra's career. Whether it was Aman and Palki [1967], Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan and Saathi [1968] or Shatranj [1969], his films were disappointments.

With the rise of Rajesh Khanna in late 60s and early 70s his position was shaky,he switched to character roles predominantly for Sawan Kumar Tak (Saajan Bina Suhagan, O Bewafa and Saajan Ki Saheli).

In the early 1980s, he successfully launched his son, Gaurav, in Love Story. However, even when Gaurav's career ran a ground, Rajendra continued making films with him even when he lost a small fortune on films like Lovers and Phool. He was the producer of successful film "Naam"(1986) his son Kumar Gaurav and Sanjay Dutt acted in this movie.
Rajendra Kumar "was the quintessential good man who never played politics and was like an elder brother to many newcomers. He provided them food, help, advice as well as a lot
 of moral strength.
On July 12, 1999, Rajendra Kumar, an ace at playing a doctor grappling with life-threatening diseases (Dil Ek Mandir, Saathi), finally succumbed to cancer.
