Top 10 Janmashtmi Songs of Bollywood

Today is Krishna Janmashtami, a hindu festival celebrating the birth of Krishna. The day brings in lots of colurs and music to our life.We should thank our Film Industry who has given us songs for all occasions.Music lovers like me and those who grew up listening such songs in their respective ‘formative years’ of life will certainly will enjoy with these songs.

1. Bluff Master - Govinda Aala Re Aala
A Superhit hindi song from bollywood film, Bluff Master, 1963. The  Shammi Kapoor, Saira Banu, Pran, Lalita Pawar starrer gained popularity with this song. The music created by Kalyanji Anandji,  is still the first song  that comes to ones mind when thinking of Janmashtami.

2  Khuddar - Mach Gaya Shor Sari Nagri Re
This Amitabh Bachchan starrer  reminds us of Krishna's tricks on Radha, his unusual ways of pulling her legs and his wittiness  that makes us smile every time we watch or listen to it.

3  Badla - Shor mach gaya shor dekho aaya maakhan chor
This is another popular hindi song has the background score playing as 'Govinda ayo re'. The Shatrughan Sinha starrer went on to add colour to the loved and much celebrated janmashtami.

4  Vaastav - Har taraf hai ye shor aaya gokul ka chor
The handi-phor is beautifully portrayed in this song. The song is from Vaastav.Sanjay Dutt shows him in a playful mood, the music is given by Jatin Lalit. It  brings back the traditional playful Janmashtami.

5  Kala Bazar- Ala re Govinda
The old magic of Govinda ala re created once again by Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor. The music of the Gokulashtami song from Kala Baazar was created by Rajesh Roshan.

6 Baaje badhaayi aaj nand ji ke dwaar (Nandkishore )(1951)

A very rare song from the 1951 film ‘Nandkishore’. The song celebrates the spirit of this day,The words of this song are written by Pt. Narendra Sharma, and the music is from the baton of Snehal Bhatkar. The singing voice is that of Lata, supported by chorus.

7 Satyam Shivam Sundaram- Yashomati Maiyya Se Bole Nandlala
The song is Krishna's complain to his mother about he being dark, while Radha being fair. It portrays the innocence of krishna. Padmini Kolhapuri sings this song in screen.

Radha Kaise Na Jale - Lagaan:
The song has a slight classical touch along with folk tunes which holds the song beautifully. Udit Narayan and Asha Bhosle create magic with their melodious voice. Gracy Singh and Aamir Khan make this song look even more beautiful on screen.

Go Go Go Govinda- OMG Oh My God
This song composed by Himesh Reshammiya is a high voltage song. The song featuring Sonakshi and Prabhudheva is a festive number. Sonakshi's dance in the song caught attention as soon as the song released.

They came at a time when big music directors like S.D. Burman, Hemant Kumar, Madan Mohan, Naushad, Shankar Jaikishan and Ravi were ruling the Hindi film music world – and it was a golden period of film music – it was very tough to make a place amongst them. The Bharat Bhushan–Nirupa Roy hit Samrat Chandragupta (1959) was their first film as Kalyanji Virji Shah, the song of that film"Chahe Paas Ho" a duet by Rafi and Lata became hit,Another film Post Box 999 came simultaniously, the song NEEND NA MUJH KO AYE became instant hit.Another song MERE DIL MAIN HAI EK BAAT was also became popular.

Some of the songs of BLUFF MASTER were also became popular in the early 60s but the real recognition happened in 1965 when two decisive scores, Himalay Ki God Mein and Jab Jab Phool Khile, established them as composers to reckon with. The songs of both the films were super hit,Remember the song EK THA GUL AUR EK THI BULBUL of Jab Jab Phool Khile and "Chand Si Mehbooba" and "Kankaria Maar Ke Jagaya" of Himalaya Ki God Me were hit songs of that year.In 1967 came UPKAAR who can forget KASME VADE PYAAR VAFA and MERE DESH KI DHARTI.
