Top 10 Janmashtmi Songs of Bollywood

Today is Krishna Janmashtami, a hindu festival celebrating the birth of Krishna. The day brings in lots of colurs and music to our life.We should thank our Film Industry who has given us songs for all occasions.Music lovers like me and those who grew up listening such songs in their respective ‘formative years’ of life will certainly will enjoy with these songs.

1. Bluff Master - Govinda Aala Re Aala
A Superhit hindi song from bollywood film, Bluff Master, 1963. The  Shammi Kapoor, Saira Banu, Pran, Lalita Pawar starrer gained popularity with this song. The music created by Kalyanji Anandji,  is still the first song  that comes to ones mind when thinking of Janmashtami.

2  Khuddar - Mach Gaya Shor Sari Nagri Re
This Amitabh Bachchan starrer  reminds us of Krishna's tricks on Radha, his unusual ways of pulling her legs and his wittiness  that makes us smile every time we watch or listen to it.

3  Badla - Shor mach gaya shor dekho aaya maakhan chor
This is another popular hindi song has the background score playing as 'Govinda ayo re'. The Shatrughan Sinha starrer went on to add colour to the loved and much celebrated janmashtami.

4  Vaastav - Har taraf hai ye shor aaya gokul ka chor
The handi-phor is beautifully portrayed in this song. The song is from Vaastav.Sanjay Dutt shows him in a playful mood, the music is given by Jatin Lalit. It  brings back the traditional playful Janmashtami.

5  Kala Bazar- Ala re Govinda
The old magic of Govinda ala re created once again by Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor. The music of the Gokulashtami song from Kala Baazar was created by Rajesh Roshan.

6 Baaje badhaayi aaj nand ji ke dwaar (Nandkishore )(1951)

A very rare song from the 1951 film ‘Nandkishore’. The song celebrates the spirit of this day,The words of this song are written by Pt. Narendra Sharma, and the music is from the baton of Snehal Bhatkar. The singing voice is that of Lata, supported by chorus.

7 Satyam Shivam Sundaram- Yashomati Maiyya Se Bole Nandlala
The song is Krishna's complain to his mother about he being dark, while Radha being fair. It portrays the innocence of krishna. Padmini Kolhapuri sings this song in screen.

Radha Kaise Na Jale - Lagaan:
The song has a slight classical touch along with folk tunes which holds the song beautifully. Udit Narayan and Asha Bhosle create magic with their melodious voice. Gracy Singh and Aamir Khan make this song look even more beautiful on screen.

Go Go Go Govinda- OMG Oh My God
This song composed by Himesh Reshammiya is a high voltage song. The song featuring Sonakshi and Prabhudheva is a festive number. Sonakshi's dance in the song caught attention as soon as the song released.

Chahe Paas Ho from Samrat Chandragupt

They came at a time when big music directors like S.D. Burman, Hemant Kumar, Madan Mohan, Naushad, Shankar Jaikishan and Ravi were ruling the Hindi film music world – and it was a golden period of film music – it was very tough to make a place amongst them. The Bharat Bhushan–Nirupa Roy hit Samrat Chandragupta (1959) was their first film as Kalyanji Virji Shah, the song of that film"Chahe Paas Ho" a duet by Rafi and Lata became hit,Another film Post Box 999 came simultaniously, the song NEEND NA MUJH KO AYE became instant hit.Another song MERE DIL MAIN HAI EK BAAT was also became popular.
MERE DIL MAIN HAI EK BAAT

The younger brother Anandji who was assisting him till then, joined him officially to form the Kalyanji Anandji duo in Satta Bazar and Madari (1959).The Duo's First musical hit was CHALLIA (1961).All the songs of that film were hit."Dam Dam Diga Diga" and"Chhalia Mera Naam" were very popular among masses.
Govina Ala Re from Bluff Master

Some of the songs of BLUFF MASTER were also became popular in the early 60s but the real recognition happened in 1965 when two decisive scores, Himalay Ki God Mein and Jab Jab Phool Khile, established them as composers to reckon with. The songs of both the films were super hit,Remember the song EK THA GUL AUR EK THI BULBUL of Jab Jab Phool Khile and "Chand Si Mehbooba" and "Kankaria Maar Ke Jagaya" of Himalaya Ki God Me were hit songs of that year.In 1967 came UPKAAR who can forget KASME VADE PYAAR VAFA and MERE DESH KI DHARTI.
 KASME VADE PYAAR VAFA

The Duo got their first National Award for "Saraswatichandra",in 1968. They got the Filmfare Award in 1974 for KORA KAGAJ.

In the seventies they gave hit music in many films like MAHAL.Johny Mera Naam,SAFAR,Purab Aur Paschim,Sachha Jhuta,Blackmail,Victoria 203,Dharmatma.Maryada,Zanzeer.Infact he was the favourite Music Director of Prakash Mehra.Lots of Amitabh Bachhan films had the music of Kalyanji Anandji

How can we forget their songs like Too kya jaaney wafaa (Haath ki safaai), Ye mera dil, pyaar ka deewaana (Don-original!), Laila main laila (Qurbani), Oh ya Allah (Muqaddar ka sikander), all of which had either the beats or orchestration heavily westernized? Bollywood's Top 15 Negative Roles Played by Heroes

A typical hindi film is full of emotions, melodrama. The Hero is invincible,no mission is impossible for him,he will be a winner always.Changes in his character are rare,he will never indulge in wrong things,If he is doing something wrong then it is under circumstsnces he is doing that.If he is taking the law in his own hands, his act will be morally justified in the end.

Ashok KumarThe first Negative Character played by a hero was done by Ashok Kumar in Kismet(1943).Kismet was severely criticised for glorifying crime and portraying a criminal in good light. Despite the criticism, the movie shattered all box office records, becoming the first Indian movie to gross 10 million (10 million) at the box office. It ran for 187 continuous weeks at Roxy Cinema in Calcutta, a record that stood for 32 years.Ashok Kumar  played a pickpocket and con man.He played Double role in this film.

Ashok Kumar played another memorable role as negative character in Jewl Thief(1967).The film stars Dev AnandVyjayantimala and Ashok Kumar in the lead roles.Ashok Kumar played the role of Arjun Singh.

Dev AnandThe next hero who comes in our mind is Dev Anand, who played a few characters with a negative shade, like inBaazi(1951)where he played Madan a small time Gambler, Jaal (1952) where he played a smuggler, then as an absconding gang member in Dushman, as a black marketer in Kala Bazar.

Dilip Kumar plays a negative character in Ganga Jamuna(1961) as Ganga, Ganga is framed by the landlord for a crime he did not commit, he escapes to the mountains with his girlfiend, Dhanno, and joins a band of bandits. Before this film he played a negative role after interval in Andaz(1949).After Andaz he played a negative role in  ‘Amar’( 1954) in which he portrayed the role of a respected lawyer in the eyes of the society but in reality he is a baddie who rapes a village lass (Nimmi) and later disowns her and tries to marry a prosperous city girl( Madhubala). The plot thickens when the village lass comes to the city hunting her beloved. To escape her eyes Dilip Kumar does all the villainous acts, including a plan to kill her! Though Dilip Kumar received critical acclaim, his fans couldn’t digest his vicious act. Hence the movie got a lukewarm response at box-office.

Sunil Dutt who did few negative roles in movies. The first such role was in Mother India(1957) Sunil Dutt played the role of Birju who embittered since childhood by the demands of Sukhilala, takes out his frustrations by pestering the village girls, especially Sukhilala's daughter, Rupa.
Birju's anger finally becomes dangerous and, after being provoked, he attacks Sukhilala and his daughter and steals Radha's kangan (marriage bracelets) that were pawned with Sukhilala. He is chased out of the village and becomes a bandit.Later on Birju returns with his gang of bandits to take his revenge. He kills Sukhilala and kidnaps Rupa. When he tries to flee the village on his horse, Radha, his mother, shoots him.In the 60’s when romantic movies were doing roaring business, Sunil Dutt, produced a real ‘Hat ke’ movie ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’ and portrayed a wicked and merciless Dacoit. The character was not laced with any flimsy background sympathy story, giving reason for taking up dacoit as seen in most dacoit movies. It was a straight movie on dacoit issue and their soulful plea to let them live. Sunil Dutt’s performance in the movie remains till date as the ‘Best dacoit’ performance ever performed on Hindi screen.

Dharmendra is another actor who did lot of negative character. The first movie comes in mind is Phool Aur Pathar(1966).This was the movie which went on to become a golden jubilee hit catapulting Dharmendra to stardom. Dharmendra played Shaka.Circumstances have made Shaka a career criminal. His performance in the movie ensured him a nomination in the Best Actor category in the Filmfare awards for that year. However, it was won by Dev Anand for his performance in Guide. Before this Dharmendra played the villain role in Aayee Milan Ki Bela(1964).Dharmendra played a lot of negative roles in his career. Don’t know why only his ‘Aayi Milan Ki Bela’ (1964) is hyped up. In addition to Maa(1976), he also played a bad guy in ‘Mera Qasoor Kya Hai’ (1964), Yakeen’ (1969), Jugnu(1973),‘Krodhi’ (1981), ‘Karishma Kudrat Kaa’ (1985) and ‘Begaana’ (1986).
In this 1981 film Krodhi directed by Subhash Ghai, Dharmendra played the role of Vicky, an abandoned young child who grew up amidst hatred and becomes a criminal after the death of his love interest. He later tries to live past his life in a small village, where he is revered as a godly man but is identified by one of his gang members.
